How dare you take a day off!

It’s common knowledge that we are supposed to take rest days when it comes to training in a gym, lifting weights, etc.

However, there is a stigma in our society that says if you’re not constantly busy and improving, or moving in the right direction… you’ll fall behind…

You’ll fail!

You’ll lose all your gains!

People will think you’re lazy!

I won’t be able to call myself a hustler!

These are absolutely untrue. Your body, and your mind require REST!

Let’s set the stage…

It’s a glorious Friday morning, and the sun is shining in my HUGE (Just kidding…it’s small!) condo.

I teach Taekwondo classes Mondays through Thursdays… and today is my first day of rest.

I FEEL AMAZING!

The responsibility of work is lifted from my shoulders… The constant falling, kicking, punching, breaking, lifting, chasing kids of the week is being repaired.

I’ve spent at least an hour with my children already… so my spirit feels so good!

This is what you can call a recharge day… a day when you work on OTHER hobbies, passions, or spend time with family and doing things you love.

So instead of feeling guilty when you take a night off your Taekwondo training…

Or you take a day of rest from the gym…

Or even a day off work to stay home…

Plan your day, and engage yourself in something or with someone you love.

Even something as tedious as cleaning the closet (physical gruelling sometimes… I know!)

You’ll feel refreshed the next day!

Compared to if you lied not he couch and watched TV all day…

So take out your To-Do list…

Pull out your favourite book…

Try out cooking a new recipe…

Call up your friends or relatives…

And proactively REST your body, mind, and spirit.

…Then come back to the mats the next day!

Train hard, REST HARD, and see you on the mats.👊🏻
